Master · Luca Monti
In Iceland, the world still seems to breathe with the force of its own creation. Ice, lava, and rushing waters shape a landscape suspended between origin and transformation. A photographic journey into the primordial power of the element
A three-day masterclass on 4x5 view cameras — composition under the dark cloth, metering for film, and the patience that large format demands of every frame.
§ Safety & Accessibility
Safety & Accessibility
Desert areas and remote routes will be approached with qualified local guides and suitable vehicles. Access, permits and safety conditions will be checked again before departure and throughout the journey. Any variation will always be decided with the group’s safety and the quality of the experience as the first priorities. Each participant will receive a carefully prepared printed Field Guide: a practical companion to the entire workshop, containing essential contact details, emergency information, precise maps and the travel guidance needed for every stage of the itinerary. We deliberately favour a printed format over a digital one: in areas where mobile data, network coverage and electrical access can be intermittent, a physical guide remains reliable, immediate and always at hand. Whenever you move away from the group to make photographs, we ask that you do so in pairs. This simple practice allows participants to work independently while preserving awareness, communication and mutual support. In desert areas, radios will be provided to maintain communication between participants, groups and vehicles. Local mobile phones with Tunisian SIM cards will also be made available, giving every participant access to emergency calls and the ability to make local calls within Iceland.
§ Post-Workshop
Post-Workshop
The journey does not end when we leave Iceland. After the workshop, each participant will be contacted by email and invited to join a private online group created exclusively for the cohort. For six months, this shared space will remain an extension of the workshop: a place to stay connected with fellow photographers, revisit the experience through images and conversation, and remain in direct contact with your tutor. You will be able to submit photographs for review, continue discussions that began in the field, seek guidance as your visual project develops, and ask for advice when planning future independent journeys. This six-month continuation, included in the workshop fee, is designed to allow the work, the relationships and the photographic way of seeing cultivated during the journey to endure long after the return home.
